Junkosha demonstrates mmWave Cabling Solutions for Fibre Optic System Testing at ECOC
Industry pioneers demonstrate cabling portfolio to test next gen components at the heart of evolving data center environment
September 23rd, 2024: Interconnect pioneers Junkosha are set to return to Europe’s largest optical communications exhibition, ECOC 2024, to showcase their innovative range of cabling solutions. Leading the showcase is the MWX001 skew matched product, engineered to provide the highest reliability for testing signal integrity. As the data center industry – critical to AI and the broader digital ecosystem – grapples with surging demands and escalating network traffic, significant infrastructure upgrades are underway. Seamless connectivity, vital to these upgrades, depends heavily on component compatibility. Junkosha is leveraging its pedigree in high frequency analogue microwave and mmWave transmission performance to meet these challenges in the digital world.
Cabling solutions like Junkosha’s MWX001 cable assembly, for example, feature the lowest insertion loss available for test and measurement applications that require stable signal integrity whilst providing the physical cable flexibility required for test set-ups. As a result, the interconnect has become a premium choice for testing components critical for the operation of modern data centers. High speed OE Transceivers, which quickly convert signals between electrical and optical forms (and vice versa), are essential but often present challenges in testing and monitoring digital signal integrity within optical networks such as Bit Error Ratio Testers (BERT). Therefore, Junkosha’s MWX001 cable assembly is the optimal solution due to its high performance and reliability.
Tomohiro Ogawa, Product Manager for Junkosha, explains: “Transceiver testing is crucial for ensuring seamless connections. It helps in identifying faults and failures, optimizing performance, ensuring compliance with standards, enhancing reliability, reducing downtime, and minimizing costs. As communication systems continue to evolve it is essential that the transceivers are tested regularly before they are deployed in live networks to ensure uninterrupted communication.”
It is here in the optical testing environment that Junkosha truly innovates. Cable insertion loss is minimized due to its cable structure, which is optimized for measurement up to 110GHz with 1psec skew matching. The combination of the lowest loss and 1psec precision skew match enables accurate monitoring of “Eye Diagrams” helping engineers quickly identify problems such as timing errors, amplitude issues, and signal distortion. The MWX001 also exhibits excellent phase stability versus flexure, ensuring high quality signal transmission complete with predictable skew performance, a prerequisite for signal integrity applications. A Safety-Lock mechanism is available to preserve the 1.0mm(m) connector’s central pin.
“As new AI and ML compute architectures drive increased bandwidth requirements, high-speed optics will continue to form the backbone of data centers," Ogawa adds, “At Junkosha, we are continuously innovating new precision engineered cabling solutions for an increasingly digital world. Our latest products we are showcasing at ECOC, including our MWX001, are designed to consistently test signal integrity without impacting performance to meet the needs of the most demanding AI workloads that will shape the future of data transmission.”
Junkosha will be exhibiting the MWX001 cable assembly alongside its comprehensive portfolio of cable solutions at ECOC in Frankfurt, Germany, at stand D31. The ECOC exhibition has been running for nearly 30 years and has grown to become the largest optical communications exhibition in Europe and the key meeting place for decision makers from across the fibre optic communications technology industry.
