While our main production systems remain unaffected, we are actively investigating the scope of the impact and taking all necessary measures to restore operations. What Happened:

On January 22, 2025, we discovered unusual encryption affecting files and data on servers maintained in our Japanese manufacturing facilities, rendering us unable to use the content. We immediately initiated an investigation, engaged third-party cybersecurity experts, and determined that a ransomware attack launched by an unknown party, had encrypted the affected data.

What Systems and Information Were Involved:

At this time, Junkosha can confirm the encryption event only affected servers at our Japanese manufacturing facilities. Our main production systems remain unaffected. However, we are actively assessing the full extent of the impact, including whether any data was exfiltrated in encrypted or unencrypted form.

Our email and any other cloud-based systems used for our business operations also remain unaffected. Due to the ongoing assessment of the extent of the impact, we are imposing some self-restrictions until its completion. Despite this, we continue to run our operations as usual. We continue to investigate the situation and are working diligently on recovery efforts.

Impact on Operations:

Our manufacturing capabilities remain unaffected. As a precaution, most Junkosha systems were isolated from external networks for several days until our assessment and remediation efforts determined they were unaffected. On January 29 we restored access to our cloud-based email, main production systems, document, and accounting infrastructure.

Our operations systems are currently running at a reduced level. This could lead to some delays and may result in the change of the formats for delivery notes, test reports, and product labels.
